‘New Girl’ doubles its rating with DVR playback
December 12, 2016
Ratings for Fox’s “New Girl” have fallen off quite a bit. But the comedy does receive fairly strong boosts through DVR playback.
That was certainly the case for the Nov. 22 episode of “New Girl,” which posted a 1.6 rating among viewers 18-49 with seven-day DVR playback factored in, according to Nielsen.
That was exactly double its original 0.8 live-plus-same-day DVR playback rating. In fact, it was one of only two shows during the week ended Nov. 27 to double its rating through DVR playback. The other was ABC’s “Quantico,” which went from a 0.7 rating to a 1.4.
For the season, “New Girl” is averaging a 1.7 L+7 rating, up 70 percent from its 1.0 average L+SD rating.
‘This Is Us’ tops total viewer growth
Meanwhile, among total viewers, NBC’s new drama “This Is Us” continues to dominate. The show added 5.46 million viewers through seven-day DVR playback for its Nov. 22 episode. That was up 61 percent for an L+7 total of 14.46 million.
It was easily the most growth of any show during the week ended Nov. 27. The next closest was CBS’s “Bull,” which added 4.26 million viewers for an L+7 total of 15.15 million.
Two other shows added at least 4 million viewers: CBS’s “NCIS: New Orleans” (up 4.23 million) and NBC’s “Chicago Fire” (up 4.11 million).
