Networks: Hey, don’t let Aereo do that

December 18, 2014

The Big Four networks apparently will not rest until Aereo is beaten to a bloody pulp.

They have filed objections in bankruptcy court to the now-defunct streaming service’s request to sell off its assets. Aereo declared bankruptcy earlier this fall.

The broadcasters say if Aereo conducts the sale, they may lose out on copyright damages. They are also worried that the TV company could attempt to revive if it sells off assets.

Aereo, of course, famously lost a case in the Supreme Court last summer that effectively said its services were illegal. The company rented antennae to customers that allowed them to stream local stations’ content without having to subscribe to them.
